There is so much swoon-worthiness in Jenna & Brendon's wedding at Whistle Bear Golf Club in Cambridge...I don't even know where to begin! They were the nicest, sweetest couple to work with, and they knew what they wanted for photos...and were willing and committed to doing anything to make magic happen! I love shooting at Whistle Bear because not only are the grounds gorgeous, but the indoor spaces are also bright and airy, making for wonderful light to play with during the reception. The outdoor wedding pavillion is also one of my favourite places to shoot a ceremony...the architecture is so clean and unique, but also allows for 360º coverage during the main event! Plus...that waterfall always makes for an incredible backdrop for portraits!
See? I told you it's a swoon-worthy wedding! I started out with quick coverage of Brendon & the boys, then some final getting ready touches with Jenna in the bridal suite...followed by their First Look and some portraits before the ceremony! As always, I like to fit in a few separate portrait sessions throughout the day so we can make the most of different lighting situations (because, well...SUNSET) and locations.
I know, right?
It helps that these guys are gorgeous!
The First Look
I love first looks between the bride and groom that roll into incredible, beautiful portrait sessions! Just steps from the Clubhouse I found a grove of tall trees that were nicely shaded, out of the way of all the golfers, and with limited background busyness (like golfers and golf carts!). Jenna & Brendon's first look was intimate, sincere, and sooooo full of love. The best part of a first look, other than letting you get all the nerves out of the way before the ceremony, is how unscripted, raw and honest they are.
The Garden Chapel Ceremony
I love shooting weddings in the open air pavilion at Whistle Bear! Luckily, the weather was incredible on Jenna & Brendon's wedding day, so the roof was able to be retracted. The chandeliers and architecture of the space give just enough visual interest to add to the photos without taking away from all the (very emotional) moments captured.
Wedding Party Portraits
Shooting on the grounds at Whistle Bear is always a blast, because unlike most golf course venues there's an amazing "forest" full of trails and trees, hidden little spaces and an old sugar shack! I'm not 100% sure it's a sugar shack, but that's what I've always called it haha! And...a swing! Making sure I capture a mix of styles at every wedding is always important to me (and my couples) and it was so easy working with Jenna, Brendon & their wedding party to get everything from dreamy and romantic to super fun and candid...and just wait until you see the photos we got after the reception during sunset!
Move over, Pinterest.
The Rose Room Reception
We made it! The Rose Room and Terrace at Whistle Bear Golf Club is *stunning*. From the sparkly chandeliers to the vaulted 20 foot ceiling, it's a great space that feels both intimate and spacious at the same time (the wrap around windows help!). When I asked Jenna & Brendon to describe the vision they had for their wedding day, they said "ethereal, romantic, happy, fun and carefree" – and that's exactly how the day unfolded! I also always get excited when I see that Lauren & Nicole of From The Potting Shed are doing the florals, because I know it's going to be stunning to say the least!
You aren't going to want to miss the portraits we snuck in during Golden Hour...so keep scrolling!
Just steps from the clubhouse at Whistle Bear you're on the rolling greens of the golf course – the perfect backdrop to capture romantic sunset portraits of Jenna & Brendon! These two are so comfortable with each other, getting dreamy, sexy, beautiful shots of the two of them during the Golden Hour was nearly effortless.
Ugh. My heart.
...and some goodnight sparklers
...and they lived very happily ever after.
Hard to believe all of that was in 8 short hours! When everything is happening on-site at one location on the wedding day, it makes everything so much more efficient, including photography! Jenna & Brendon's wedding at Whistle Bear was an absolute pleasure to shoot – all of their friends and family were wonderful, the venue is always incredible, the weather was perfect, and the camera simply loves these guys! Thanks so much for having me as your photographer – I'd do it all again in a heart beat! xoxo Shawn
