Oh, I've been looking forward to blogging this wedding since the morning I showed up at Madison's on her wedding day in late July! Madison & Ryan are so fun and up for anything, and their big day at Brescia University College at Western University was the perfect mix of romance, sincere sweet love, and tonnes of light hearted whimsy and fun! They're an absolute blast to work with, up for anything – and the location(s) were absolutely perfect (just like the weather!). I started just after lunch at Madison's house for some quick getting ready coverage, then zipped over to Brescia where I met up with the boys for some pics, followed by a First Look between M&R.
See? I told you they were fun.
For Madison & Ryan's bride and groom photos prior to the ceremony (as well as some wedding party pics) we started out at the Beryl Ivey Garden (such a cool space) on Western University Campus. The locations were all so close, and within walking distance, which was just one more pleasure added to the day! The only problem with shooting at UWO is there are TOO MANY great spots to shoot! Literally around every corner there's another beautiful wall or backdrop to work with. The architecture is so clean and classic, and the endless ivy walls, walkways and arches...ugh, it's a photographer's paradise.
I know...right? My heart swoons.
You just wait until you see the photos we got after the ceremony.
Madison & Ryan were the first couple to have their ceremony in the field at Brescia...and it was such a great idea! The light, the wide open sky, the sprawling wild and open field behind their wedding arch – all of it was perfect and gave me limitless angles to capture the entire ceremony.
If you've never seen or been to a wedding at Brescia, you're in for a treat. The space is so incredibly clean and modern, with massive floor to ceiling windows that allow the late day sun to just pour in, making for incredible shadows and backlighting. The ginormous wooden LOVE marquee letters they had set up on the dance floor were begging for some attention, so of course I had to steal Madison & Ryan away during the cocktail hour for a few pics in front of them!
I always love to zip out for 10 or 15 minutes during the reception (between speeches and fun stuff) to capture my favourite time of day for wedding and engagement photography...sunset and twilight!
Sparkler send-offs and smoke bombs and goodnight kisses, oh my!
...and that's a wrap!
It's hard to believe I was only there for 8 hours – the variety and story captured during Madison & Ryan's wedding day at Brescia feels like it spanned days, looking back. The day of however, it flew by...because that's what happens when you're having fun! Thanks so much to both of you for having me as your wedding (and engagement!) photographer. I'd do it all again in a heartbeat. All the best to you in your happily ever after! xoxo Shawn
